Food, Nutrition and Wellness Grants

The grants below have been identified by the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services (FDACS) to assist our child nutrition program sponsors in advancing their nutrition and agriculture education efforts in schools. Many of the grants are offered annually, so sponsors are encouraged to research or reach out to the grant entities to gather application deadlines and award information.

Grants by FDACS

National School Lunch Program Equipment Assistance Grant

The 2019 U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) National School Lunch Program Equipment Assistance Grant Request for Applications is available now. The purpose of the equipment assistance grant is to address the infrastructure needs of eligible School Food Authorities (SFAs) in the National School Lunch Program. Funds will be awarded through a competitive grant process to SFAs for the purchase of equipment to improve food safety, serve healthier school meals with emphasis on more fruits and vegetables, improve overall energy efficiency, and expand participation.

Grants by Outside Entities

The America's Promise Healthy Schools Fund: Three to five grants of up to $150,000 each per year for two years (for a total of up to $300,000) will be awarded to support communities working to create healthier school environments for all children. Recognizing that school-centered health intersects with many areas outside of education — housing, employment, transportation and food access — as well as many audiences, efforts should serve as a hub for cross-sector collaboration, youth and community engagement, and broader policy and systemic change.
